Briefly about Nazran

Nazran is the largest city in the Republic of Ingushetia, Russia. Located on the banks of the river Nasrani, 24 km from Vladikavkaz. Railway station of the North–Caucasian railway. Prior to 2000, was the capital of Ingushetia. Is based in the city one of the border troops of the FSB of Russia. The internal division of the city is represented by four administrative districts. The population of 93,4 thousand people, 85% of the Ingush, 13,6% of the Chechens.

Based in 1781 year as Nazran redoubt later became a village (aul) Nazran. In 1944 was Costa Khetagurovo, in honor of the Ossetian poet Costa Khetagurov. In 1957 year, returned to its former name. In 1967 year obtained the city status. The name given to the river Nasrani and named pioneer Nasara.
